McFagan Ltd was started in 2000 after the partnership that was started in 1986 between father and son Robert Mcfagan and Robert J McFagan was dissolved and the partnership was turned into a Limited Company. At its peak it employed over thirty-five staff and had turnover of over £40,000 per week on small manufactured items like Pine Dressing Table Mirrors and CD Units. The company invested heavily in CNC technology from Morbidelli using Aspan Design Software and with this advantage we managed to produce product that was lower in prices than our competitors and higher in quality. Unfortunately China entered the manufacturing business and by 2004 with much Health and Safety Regulation being introduced and the cheaper imports from China the business started to decline. Manufacturing was ceased in 2006 and the business McFagan Ltd switched direction from manufacturing to retailing full time. The small shop that was started along side the manufacturing to sell our seconds we started called Polegate Pine went from producing 10% of our turnover to 100% retail overnight McFagan was one of the few companies in the furniture industry that did not go bust owing money when we stopped manufacturing unlike companies like Pinetum Ltd and Marco Manufacturing and many others that have disappeared over the years. As a company, McFagan Ltd and McFagan Mirrors would like to thank the following people that made the company a success and who's success would not have been possible without their help. Colin Winstanley	Machinest and Assembler	Our first worker who stayed with us until the end of manufacturing. A great person to know. At the start he would go home if he had no work so we did not have to pay him.
Robert Mcfagan	Ex Joint Owner	There from the start. None of this would have been possible without him.
Jeanett McFagan	New Joint Owner	She took the company from manufacturing to retailing and without that we would not be the size we are today and she also became my wife.
Steven Merner	Did everything	Stayed with me for nearly 20 years. Still my best friend and one of the most trustworthy people i have ever met.
Gary Hookham	Furniture Sprayer	The best furniture sprayer i have ever had the pleasure to work with.
Roger Richards	Furniture Sprayer	I used to spray with him during overtime as he was better than a comedy show. The funniest person i have ever met and very good at his job. Still works for me now from time to time.
Me Robert J McFagan	Joint Owner	The best worker ever. Enough said. My work is done.
Alan Vine	Despatch	The most organised hard working person i ever employed. He helped this company go from small to medium sized. No one ever did his job as good as him.
Paul Stevens	Despatch	Well organised and hard working. Now sells underwear at his own company.
Mike Hope	Sales Agent	A true gent and truly one of the old school. I have known him 20 Years. Gave us direction and a good profile in the trade. He was also my friend. Retired Jan 2011.
John Pullen	Sales Agent	A truly good agent for the East Anglia area and hard worker.
Howard Davies	Sales Agent	Another truly good agent and hard worker for the west country.
Alan Clark	CNC Operator	A good CNC operater who understood the machine and how it worked.
Steven Brush	Worker	Worked with me before when we started in a unit in Newhaven with Pine Tree. Shared some good times with him.
Brian Brush	Worker	My best friend ever for over 35 years. He worked many evenings with me assembling and long delivery journeys when he bunked off school.
Tom Ohare	Supplier	Worked for Mackintosh and Partners in Small Dole. Gave me good advice about wood and provided us with good product assembly advice. Also cut production times by selling us cut to size wood which we would never have thought about.
Gary Stamper	Customer	Customer who gave me good sales orders and good advice to go with it. Met up with him a year ago and still speaks more sense in one hour than some people i knew do in a year. Also paid his bills ontime.
Simon Hunt	Customer	Owner of Matts and Slatts, now Hamsey Pine. Matts and Slatts was my biggest customer and he always made sure i got paid. Would ring up and give me an order for £25,000 without batting an eyelid.
Tommy Frank	Customer	Owner of Marco Manufacturing. He gave me my first £8000 order which was the very start of the company going from £1000 per week turnover to £40,000 a month overnight.
John Reynolds	Customer	Owner of Pine Market. The original playboy. Had breakfast with him when doing a delivery to his warehouse . We spoke about money and he told me he could not live on £1000 a week take home and that was thirteen years ago. He said he spent it on drink,woman and spunked the rest. Last time i heard he was driving a taxi.
Mark Hotson	Customer	Owner of A World of Furniture Salisbury. Good customer, funny person and someone even now that has great knowledge of the trade. Met him a few weeks ago at his store.
Ron Hotson	Customer	Owner of A Touch of Pine in Banbury. Sadly passed away. One of the rudest and most aggesive customers i have ever met, But i had more respect for him than anyone else in the trade. If he did not like you, you knew it. If he did he gave you good regular orders and the advice he gave you was priceless. he gave me advice when i was thinking of buying Holmes Hill Estate and certainly gave me the push i needed.
Mark Doughty	Manager	Joined the company just as the orders were increasing at an amazing rate. He handled the expansion well and guided the production to the highest levels we ever achieved. He a good person that looked after my company. It never reached the heights it achieved after he left, Still see him occasionally.
Peter Bolton AKA Ralf Schumacher	Did Everything	Came to us with the "Hailsham Mob". The only worker i thought would steal my crown of success. Unfortunatly while he has achieved a well paid job he also discovered fishing and now seems to be content to just work around his fishing. Very intelligent, moody but a pleasure to work with. Looked just like Ralf Schumacher and the name has stuck to this day.
Peter Moyes	Did Everything	Now owns Petrian Developments. Good honest person who went on the go self employed. Well organised and nice to see he has become a success.
Julie Whiting	Secretary	An unbelievable secretary. Would do all the paperwork in the morning then taught herself how to spray and would spend the afternoon spraying. Even took the walk about phone with her so she would not miss a call.
Ian Elliot	Machinest	The best machinest i ever employed, When he left my machine shop was never as good. A good person and great machinest
Andy Toop	Driver	The best driver i ever had and by christ i had some idiot ones when he left. He was like having James Hunt working for you. You pointed him in the direction, said what and where you needed delivering and he would come up with the goods every time. Had one minor accident in 1/2 a million miles.
